Two Floirda Panthers arrested shortly after Posey incident

Within hours of Heat player James Poseys arrest, Florida Panthers goaltender Ed Belfour and left-winger Ville Peltonen were arrested in Miami Beach. They're also out on bond.

Belfour is charged with disorderly intoxication and resisting arrest without violence, after he and Peltonen allegedly refused to leave Nikki Beach. Belfour was Tasered during a scuffle with police, his second run-in with law enforcement in the last seven years.

Dolphins considering taking back Ricky Williams?

Former NFL running back Ricky Williams is counting down the days until April 27, the date his year-long suspension from the league for substance abuse will finally be complete.

The athlete, who played in Canada last season, has officially applied for reinstatement and has sent a letter to his former team, the Miami Dolphins, seeking employment.

The Dolphins said they will have no comment on Williams’ possible return until he officially becomes eligible for reinstatement on the 27th.

James Posey arrested for drunk driving

Police said Posey was stopped in his car after he blocked traffic in the left lane of the 400 block of 41st Street while talking to pedestrians. The arresting officer wrote in the report that he waited behind Posey's Mercedes for a minute and that Posey didn't move the vehicle.

Posey, 30, was released from Miami-Dade County jail on a $1,000 bond but wasn't at practice Monday. Riley said he hadn't talked with Posey as of early Monday afternoon and wouldn't say whether Posey would accompany the team on its flight this morning for a game at Charlotte, according to the Sun-Sentinel.com

Olympic gold medalist accused of counterfiting

Pilotonline.com reports that Olympic gold medalist and former Norfolk State University track star Tim Montgomery pleaded guilty in federal court Monday to participating in a $5 million counterfeit check scheme.

According to a plea deal filed in court, Montgomery would serve 37 to 46 months in prison. Sentencing is set for Nov. 1.

University of Florida wins another championship

The University of Florida won the NCAA basketball tournament! This win comes shortly after its football team took the national title. The athletics program seems to be on a roll. The University of Florida Gators beat the University of California, Los Angeles Bruins 73-57 in the RCA Dome last night. The win gave the Gators their first NCAA tournament championship. The Gators, a number three seed in the tournament, spent most of the night dominating the Bruins on both offense and defense.

Update: Reggie Bush NOT banned from Playboy Mansion

According to www.sports.espn.go.com the Saints tailback has not been banned from the Playboy Mansion. In fact, Bush was present at Saturday night's Golf Scramble party. "Reggie was at the mansion on Saturday night enjoying the Playboy Golf Scramble party, so no he's not banned," said Playboy spokesman Rob Hilburger. "We're not sure where the rumor came from."

Reggie Bush has been banned from the Playboy Mansion because of a "conduct violation." Bush's banishment from Hef's mansion was reported by Southern California Sports guru Scott Wolf:

Bucs RB Accused of Hitting Pregnant Woman

Buccaneers running back Lionel Gates was arrested and charged with hitting a pregnant woman in the face and pushing her into a wall during an argument. The 25-year-old player was being held Friday with no bond, jail records said. Gates was charged with burglary of a dwelling, aggravated battery of a pregnant woman and criminal mischief.

Indianapolis Colts Darrell Reid arrested for marijuana

Indystar.com reports that Indianapolis Colts reserve defensive linemen Darrell Reid has been arrested on a marijuana possession charge in his hometown of Freehold, N.J.Reid, 24, was stopped early Saturday after police received an anonymous call reporting an intoxicated person. In the line rotation this past season, Reid was also a key special teams contributor for the Super Bowl champions. He played in 15 regular-season games and throughout the four-game playoff run.

A.I.'s stepfather busted for cocaine

The stepfather of a local NBA star is in trouble with the law. Wavy News 10 reports that early Monday morning, Newport News Police arrested 50-year-old Michael Andre Freeman on 25th Street in the city's East End, after officers found crack cocaine in his car. Freeman is the stepfather of Hampton native and NBA star Allen Iverson. He's charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, and possession of paraphernalia. Freeman is behind bars in the Newport News City Jail on no bond.

Ex-Grambling coach Eddie Robinson dies

Eddie Robinson, the legendary former coach of Grambling, is dead at 88 of Alzheimer's disease. The longtime coach transformed a small, black college into a football power that sent hundreds of players to the NFL. Robinson's career spanned 11 presidents, several wars and the civil rights movement. His overall record of excellence is what will be remembered: In 57 years, Robinson compiled a 408-165-15 record. Until John Gagliardi of St. John's, Minn., topped the victory mark four years ago, Robinson was the winningest coach in all of college football.
"The real record I have set for over 50 years is the fact that I have had one job and one wife," Robinson said.
